Introduction

The Forest Village Community Development (PMDH) is an activity that aims to improve the welfare of village communities in and around the forest with an environmentally sound community livelihood. To support the implementation of this mission, PT. Erna Djuliawati (PT. ED) has taken an approach, coordination planning and organization whose implementation is oriented towards the participation of the Forest Village Community concerned. PMDH activities are basically directed in the form of efforts to educate and improve community skills, improve forest quality and productivity, and foster mutually beneficial relationships between communities, forests and companies in the integration of business that are not binding partnerships.

PMDH's goals covers increasing income, growing the economy of rural communities with an environmentally perspective, providing socio-economic facilities and infrastructure, as well as creating awareness and positive behavior in conserving natural resources. As for the forms of activities such as guidance and counseling assistance that are carried out, solely as encouragement and stimulation to foster community participation in various aspects of development aimed at strengthening public awareness in the environmental aspect.

Development of forest villages is part of the aspect of sustainable forest management. This includes various activities aimed at improving the standard of living of people living in forest village communities. Forest Village Community Development (PMDH) is a form of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) implemented by PT ED.

In accordance with  uncondusievely situation Company and Villagers due to unequal opinion, Company identificating to the real problem on which of essential problem as a source of dispute. Company do dispute resolution refers to Standard Operationg Procedure ( SOP )

Within the work area of PT. ED there are 14 (fourteen) villages assisted. The company plans that the village in the future can become centers for the development of village growth typologies:: self-help, self-will and self-sufficiency.

The Forest Village Community Development Activity Program includes:

A. Infrastructure development

A.1 Road
The company has built infrastructure in the form of rural roads to the nearest Main Road Logging to open access the village’s land transportation, which so far before the company existed, all villages still used river routes for transportation facilities and this was quite a hindrance to the local people's economy due to the cost factor and the far distance to market locations in the nearest cities location is quite far from the village so that the marketing of agricultural products and the fulfillment of basic necessities are constrained.

In this case the company helps the community to facilitate access for the community to sell agricultural products to the city. The company arranges a schedule of shuttles for community members using company vehicles from each village to the city of Nanga Pinoh West Kalimantan in rotation within a certain period.

Since the opening of transportation access, this has had an impact on improving the economy and people's welfare growing quite rapidly.

A.2 Bridge
Construction of bridges as a support for connecting between assisted villages in the company area. Bridges are also a means of supporting the mobilization of land transportation for the community. The connection of land transportation routes both between villages and to the capital of the Sub-district, it fosters increasingly harmonious communication between residents, between villages and in neighboring villages.

A.3 School buildings construction and incentives
Improvement of Human Resources, it also focuses on improving the quality of education for rural communities as a reference and benchmark for the progress of a village with a higher quality of education for its citizens, the company constructing of educational facilities for villages as well as teaching staff, dormitories for students who are attending study at Junior High School in the Company's Base Camp area.

Besides assisting the construction of school buildings, the company also facilitates honorary teachers by giving incentives for honorary teachers to support the quality of human resources in the villages.

A.4 Drinking water installment
To fulfill the need for clean water for the people who have so far relied on the use of river water, so as to create awareness of a healthy lifestyle with well-maintained clean water facilities and there is a separation of water use for bathing, washing and toilet purposes.

A.5 Construction of houses of worship
Villagers community in the company's work area have several beliefs that are adhered to so as to accommodate all community beliefs in the assisted villages, the Company builds a house of worships. The aim these activities is to develop and foster the spirituality of the villagers and improvement of the mankind personality and their character.

Besides, the company also helps the community to build traditional houses to respect the cultural values namely Rumah Betang . To accommodate a local beliefs the company help the community to build Balai Basarah.

B. Community health improvement

Health is the main key in carrying out community life activities, so that the Company fully concentrates on assisting health services for the community, either patients visiting the Company Clinic or periodically Health Services visit to the villagers.

Medical treatment to the assisted villages on a regular basis of family planning services. Health counseling to the adults and children can be accommodated due to the lack of health services in the village and also the location of the sub-district health center which is quite far away.

C. Rural Economic Development

Opportunities for work and business are expected to generate jobs, improve the economy of the Foster Village community in the end be able to increase the income of the local community.

To support these activities the company provides some assistance of capital, transportation, as well as assistance with agricultural seeds, seedlings, fertilizers to the members of assisted farmers or the community with ongoing guidance and instructions by field officers.

The existence of jobs and economic opportunities in the assisted village community is expected to be able to increase people's income. From economic opportunities, PT Erna Djuliawati provides market opportunities to accommodate the harvests of assisted farmers, both in the fields of animal husbandry, plantations and fisheries

D. Community Shuttle Transportation

E. Natural Resources Preservation

Population growth and livelihood source for the people mostly relying on traditional agriculture (shifting cultivation), it impacted to increase the pressure on forest sustainability.
The company's effort to improve and maintain the sustainability of forest functions by forming a forest development work unit involving the local community.
To support this activity, the company provides assistance in the procurement of Jengkol seeds (Archidendron pauciflorum) and rubber seeds (Hevea brasiliensis) which is being able to maintain the function of this plantation forest, it also has a fairly high economic value.

F. Socio Cultural Development

PT. ED assists the villagers in preserving activities that have local cultural values and customs. Besides, the Company also carries out social actions for helping such as natural disasters, floods, pandemics, etc to ease the economic burden of the community and maintain good relations between the community and the company.
